Halloween Necklace Supply List and a Necklace Party!

Sorry for the long post, if you aren’t interested in ever making a necklace like the one shown HERE then feel free to come back but you don’t want to not do this, trust me it’s easy and fun!  Can you just see it as a Christmas, Valentine, Easter etc necklace?  Fun!!

As promised I am back to give you a supply list of what I used when creating my Halloween Necklace shown in this post HERE (inspired by this one created by Margie Romney-Aslett, Cherished).   And YES! I am taking her class when she comes to town!!  Ohhh, and she was so sweet to Feature my necklace on The Girl’s Loft Blog, would love it if you dropped by HERE and left a comment ;)  Maybe they will ask me to be a guest designer one month, hehe.  A girl can dream can’t she!

***I am giving you the list because I’m hoping you will join me in making a Christmas necklace well, join me via my blog ;)  Today Margie shared this link HERE to an upcoming kit and it would be great for a Christmas necklace!  You should sign up, it’s the November kit so you can get a jump on it early!!  One of my fellow blogging friends also mentioned wanting to do a Christmas necklace!! Yea!  So, I think it would be fabulous to start a necklace party and share what we have created the weekend after Thanksgiving!  What do you think?  Hope you will join me!!

Supplies used on my necklace are as follows (But, feel free to find other items and resources and share info with us, pretty please).

  1. Tim Holtz Idea-ology-Link Chain
  2. Tim Holtz Idea-ology Fragments, Clear Charms *I used glossy accents to glue the paper on as it dries clear. Just be careful for air bubbles.
  3. Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mini Pins **see note below for what can be used in place of these
  4. Tim Holtz Grungeboard Plain Shapes *I used a circle to glue some paper too and words for the ribbon piece, I used some of Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium as my gluing agent and also used it on the top of the paper and the stickers shown on the rectangle pieces.  Those rectangle stickers are from the Sticker Pad called out below. I only had the matte on hand but they have it in gloss too and that would be great!
  5. The Girl’s Paperie Toil Line and Trouble Metal Glitter Charms
  6. The Girl’s Paperie Toil and Trouble Line Halloween Sticker Pad  *I used these letters on the back of the charms to spell out BOO, or HH for Happy Halloween etc. I wanted to have something on the back knowing that the charms would probably flip as I wore it.  This pad includes an assortment of items, not just the letters you see peeking through the cutout.
  7. The Girl’s Paperie Toil and Trouble Line Crepe Paper Flowers *I cut the plastic liner they came on to allow me to reuse them later if I want to and I used two ,one on front and one on the back incase it flipped over ;)
  8. The Girl’s Paperie Toil and Trouble Ribbon Trims
  9. The following papers from The Girl’s Paperie Line: Midnight Flight, Parlor Paper, Toil and Trouble
  10. Skeleton Key bought on Etsy (will find the seller if you need it)
  11. Chandelier Crystal (Scored a bunch when junking at First Monday Trade Days, in Canton Texas
  12. Tim Holtz Distressing Inks Black Soot

What I plan to use next time in addition to the list above minus Toil and Trouble, I will be using Tinsel and Twig

I’m giving you the link to the Tinsel and Twig line found at Scrapbook.com HERE but feel free to shop the line around at other sources.  I think that you will easily see what you can use to replace the items used for the Halloween version. And don’t forget that you can get in on the November Kit at The Girl’s Loft that includes this line and more!

Tim Holtz Idea-ology Charm Clips **I used the mini pins on the Halloween necklace but going to use these next time.

Look through the Tim Holtz Idea-ology line because there are some great items that would work for this project!!!

These would make great Teachers gifts!!

Thanks for stopping back by and let me know if you have any questions! And I will be back soon with an official post on the necklace party cause I’m thinking we should have a prize or two or three ;) for those that participate!

And lastly a photo of the November The Girl’s Loft Kit  full of  The Girl’s Paperie Pretty Tinsel and Twig Line to Spark your creativity!

The Girl's Loft November Kit

Three Years and Counting!

In June of 2007,  I met my husband, the love of my life Andy!  Today we celebrate our third wedding anniversary and I feel so blessed!  We’ve been through planning a wedding in four short months, adjusting to a week on week off work schedule, being newlyweds and getting used to each others habits, a Hurricane which left a tree on and in our home.  Then we  put on a new roof on our home (yes, we did it ourselves) and then getting used to living together full time after he was promoted to a new position in town.  We ,like any couple have had our spats  but I wouldn’t trade him for anything!  We are total opposites and that I think is good for each of us as we help balance each other out!  He has brought me much stability and I feel safe and happy being his wife!  He shows me each day how much he loves me in his words and actions, I never feel unloved!  He spoils me beyond belief and I spoil him back, I’m his “sweet pretty” and he’s my “sweet love bug”!  Gosh I LOVE him so much and love hearing him tell me I’m beautiful and how much he loves me!  We have been following the wedding gift tradition each year and so this year for the third year, it’s leather and he surprised me with a beautiful leather purse.  He surprises me always, he listens to what I say and like then on his own he goes off and gets me something he knows I will love!  Love that!!  I’ve always spoiled my family and friends so it’s nice being spoiled back!! I got him a new golf bag and a leather *** (sorry can’t tell ya cause he hasn’t seen it yet and he might check the blog).
Here we are on our wedding day………..how sweet, huh!  LOL.  Hope this post hasn’t been TMI, I just feel so loved and blessed, something I hope all my friends and family feel from their significant others!  We all deserve that kind of love!!

Love you with all my heart my Sweet Love Bug!  And I am looking forward to many more happy years together!
And because I probably peeked your girlish interests, here is a photo of my lovely purse!  She’s oh so soft and fit’s just right on my shoulder and under my arm!  And all my stuff fits in it perfectly, especially this past years birthday gift my ipad. ;)  I told you he spoils me!!

This weekend we have dinner reservations in town at our favorite steak house then hoping we can get in some golf on Sunday!  Should be a great rest of the week and weekend!   As always, thanks for stopping by! Hugs from Conroe, TX

Toil and Trouble a la The Girl's Paperie!

Hi friends! Wanted to share with you a necklace I created last night, but before you say WOW how did she think of that...... I must first tell you that this necklace was inspired by one similar to the one that Margie Romney-Aslett designed for her 2010 Creative Escape class.  She will be teaching her necklace first weekend of December at By Design incase you are interested go check HERE.  I am signed up to take all her classes, can't wait!  I'm lucky enough to call her my friend and fellow Spark Sister! Spark? What is Spark? If you don't know check out my sidebar for the Spark Button or click HERE you should come next year to Spark No. 3! They haven't announced the dates yet but believe me you don't want to miss it!

If you just want to buy the kit for Margie's CE necklace you can find it HERE at Scrapp'n Savvy, Karrie has extra kits and the CE Book with photos of all the classes!  I'm teaching Pam Black's class on Nov 9th at 6:30pm and we still have room ;)

OK, so now on to my necklace, I created it last night using some items from the October Kit from The Girl's Loft, a fabulous Kit club you can find that HERE!  I had so much fun creating it and it didn't take too long to do! I promise to come back and give you more info on supplies but you can find Margie's line at Scrapbook.com HERE just search for The Girl's Paperie she has lots of lovely stuff!!  I used some things I already had on hand to create some of the pieces.

Photos for you to feast your eyes on....

I almost forgot to mention that I used Halloween Photo frames from the House of 3 you know how much I love those gals!

If you have any questions just drop me a line or leave a comment and I will get back to you, as always thanks for stopping by! Hugs from Conroe, TX!

**Edited in a photo of me sporting the necklace, not the best angle but it will work for now ;)  Doesn't it look so chic ;) (sp?)

A little Halloween and A Lot of Fall

Hope you have had an awesome weekend, mine has been great!  Today was all about relaxing and creating in my jammies all afternoon (OK, while doing laundry)!

No worries, I started out the day with coffee in bed and the newspaper!  Made the hubby some breakfast (he made it yesterday) and then play time began!  Here is what I created using a package of My Mind’s Eye Blackbird, One Sheet of their Blackbird Chipboard Die cuts, 2 sheets of Bazzill Cardstock and some burlap and ribbon!  The Moon and the tree seen in the frame are from the House of 3, digital files simply printed out on printed cardstock. I love it!

FIRST: I dusted the mantel and FAILED to put the clock back in the center, ugh!!!!  Everything is now off center! So, ignore that would ya ;)

I then decorated it, I put very few items that showed the Halloween side of the papers.  I wanted this to be easily a fall decor in November too!  I will only have to remove the small banner that has the spiders on it and the couple of Halloween themed items on the mantel and it will be fall!

If you live in the Houston area you can get all these papers at Scrapp’n Savvy in Spring ,Texas!

Now, if only I could remember where I put the pumpkin lid that belongs to that Longaberger Pumpkin basket!

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve been up to! Have a great week!!

Upcoming November Class

Wanted to share with you photos of the project I will be teaching in November on Tuesday the 9th at 6:30pm at Scrapp'n Savvy

I am excited to be teaching the class designed by Pam Black for this years Creative Escape that was held in Phoenix.  Karrie, the owner of Scrapp'n Savvy bought the complete kits for Pam's adorable Easel Mini Album so that we could get a little taste of what Creative Escape is all about!

But, that's not all!  For those of you that sign up for my class she is going to throw in for FREE the Creative Escape Book that includes all the classes taught at CE!  This class will only be taught once and seats are limited so call Karrie now and book your spot, class cost is only $40.  The class isn't on the site just yet so it's best to call Karrie at 281-288-SAVY (7289) to reserve your spot!  Hope to see you there!

The class sample can be seen at Scrapp'n Savvy.

I'm also working on a "Give Thanks" Banner kit that will be available for purchase at Scrapp'n Savvy, some of you may recall that I recently taught a Halloween Banner Class and it was a huge hit!

A Floral Topiary with My Silhouette SD!

I had a friend get married today and boy was it a beautiful and fun wedding!  She asked me months ago to decorate her candy buffet and of course I said YES!  I had so much fun using my Silhouette to create the tags labeling the candy containers and even more fun creating a floral topiary!  I was inspired by a round topiary I saw in the Flickr Silhouette Group page.

The piece made me giddy, being a geeky paper crafter something like this makes a girl like me giddy, LOL.  What is hard to show you in these photos is that after I created it I misted it with some water mixed with pearl accents and it looked delish!   Once you are done browsing click HERE to go back to Today’s Creative Blog for more links!  And would love for you to come back again or just click on the HOME button so that you can see more current posts, there’s a cute Halloween post HERE.

PA109527 PA109528 PA109529 PA109530 PA109531 The theme was Love is Sweet, she provided all the candy and most of the containers and I took it from there.  It was a big hit with all the guests, candy is always a winner!  Not sure if you notice but I had originally shared a scallop that I was going to use but then later decided to use the Silhouette to cut out squares.   Their wedding invite had their monogram in a square so I wanted to tie into that.  I also created the “Love Is Sweet” Banner with the Silhouette, first cut the pennants, the trim and the letters then simply put it together and hung them on some tulle. Here is a photo of the happy couple, I got busy after the ceremony and did not get any better pictures :(  My friend Michelle was a stunning bride!

Here is one more below that also includes my friend Karen dancing with my handsome hubby, he’s the one with the sexy bald head, LOL.

QuicKutz Silhouette SD Oh How Do I Love Thee!

I seriously LOVE my Silhouette SD, I mean really really LOVE IT!  I have a friend getting married on 10-10-10 and she asked if I would do her the honor of decorating her Candy Buffet.  How could I say no, I mean it’s so SWEET of her to ask and I do love playing with paper, candy and decorating!  The Silhouette has made this gig so easy, I mean how could someone not use this if doing something like this out of your home!  Who needs to hire someone to print these when you can simply design it, print and cut!  Here is a small sneak peek, she asked that it all be a surprise so I don’t want to share too many details here incase she happens to stop by this week … wink.   I hope to share more after the wedding if not sooner, it’s just this coming Sunday!  EEK  I do love weddings, and each time I see wedding decor I wish I could have one all over again, LOL.

Hope you have a great start to the week!

Saturday morning fun!

Hope you are having a great weekend!  Mine started out with the Banner class I taught at Scrapp’n Savvy and it was so much fun!   They seemed to really love the banner shown HERE which we created and that left me very happy of course!  I wanted to share a photo of a framed piece I did to use as a complimentary piece to the banner.  It was so easy and quick to do and I was able to tie in some of the same elements used in the banner.  This piece could be turned into a layout very easily as well by replacing the orange die cut with a photo.  You could even use the orange die cut piece and just move it around a bit and add a photo.  Guess I will have to do a mockup for you :)  Once I do so I will be sure to post it on the blog.  PA029447 PA029442PA029457

Supplies Used for the framed piece are:

  1. My Mind’s Eye Haunted Collection –
  2. 12x12 Double Sided Flocked Kraft Raven paper (I used some Black Soot on the paper to highlight the orange die cut)
  3. 12x12 Double Sided Flocked Kraft Harlequin Paper /Backside is polka dot used for the Happy Halloween piece
  4. Spider, BOO and Star are from the Flocked Vinyl Stickers Set
  5. Haunted Brads
  6. October 31 die cut is from the 12x12 Haunted Die cut page
  7. Happy Halloween is from the Haunted Acrylic Stamp Set
  8. Orange crepe paper
  9. Burlap
  10. Sequined ribbon
  11. 12x12 Frame from Michael’s

I leave you with a photo of one of my students Barbara busy at work creating her banner!  This is one creative lady, she shared this adorable mini album she is creating using toilet paper rolls!! Wait till you see it, I’ve asked her to send me photos when she has it all finished up and I will be sure to share it with you!

PA029452

I still have one more framed piece to share with you but I want to alter it a bit more so that one I will add tomorrow, for now head on over to my friend Lolly Chops Blog by clicking HERE to see how she created some adorable Halloween decor using most of the same line!
