Creating with a friend

Is what I did this weekend while in Georgetown Texas!  My friend Leslie is so talented in paper crafting, photography and more!  I headed on a road trip Saturday and was so excited that I would not only be visiting Leslie but going to Archivers (her idea), creating, chatting and seeing her family while I was there! They are some of the sweetest people you could ever ask to meet!  I was sad to have to leave Sunday morning but wanted to get back to my sweet Love Bug ;)

I loved seeing how Leslie's thought process was when sitting down to create!  She starts out by sketching her ideas and then pulling the papers, inks, punches and embellishments she wants to work with.  Let me tell you this woman is a class act and is very careful to make it all look just right!  The funny thing is that some of it she does quickly without hesitating and it looks amazing.  Where as I will sit there for 5 minutes trying to place my letters or making sure that the swipe of the paint is just right.  I appreciate the time she took out in her weekend to help me create this piece that she designed!

Please keep in mind that this was my first time sewing on paper, and using my new Copic Sketch Pens.  I have lots of practicing to do but she was a great teacher and I think it didn't turn out too bad ;)

If you love this and want one for yourself or someone you know just go visit Leslie HERE and drop her a line.  She can customize it to what your little heart desires ;)  When you visit her blog you will see the piece that she created. She puts a lot of effort and pride into every piece of art that she creates!
Thanks for stopping in and hope you have a great week!!

Quick Sunday Afternoon Post - Updated

Headed out the door to a birthday party for 4yr old twins, wanted to share photos of the projects my Goddaughter Rachel and I did while she was here this weekend. More later, ciao for now!
Finally figured out my mistake on the slideshow so here it is. We made two almost identical books documenting the creation of our books, hehe. We took photos as we created then uploaded photos to snapfish and through them they went to Walgreens same night and presto photos for our new scrapbook. Used the Cricut to cut the scalloped pages and various papers and stamps. As for the Easter cards, Rachel used my Doodlecharms cartridge to cut out the bunnies and then colored in the nose and ears. We cut some pastel papers to use behind the bunnies and a simple inside sentiment. The cards were super easy to make and they turned out cute. Goes to show that you don't have to do too much to make cute cards. Hope you had as good a weekend as I did.

Lady Bug

Just a quick post to share the Lady Bug Project. I made 50 Thank You cards, stamped the words then using my Cricut Doodle Charms cartridge and made the lady bugs. Also made individual lady bugs in varying sizes for her to put out on the tables as decorations. The book I made digitally then printed it out and cut the pages down to 8x8. To bind the book I used my Bind It All, think it turned out pretty good. It consisted of pages for the guest to sign, pages to record the gifts received, photos, a keepsake pocket and some journal pages. I will at a later time add them to a slide show so you can see the inside of the book. Gotta run, my darling God-Daughter Rachel is here for a sleep over and we have been creating 8x8 memory books and heading to Walgreens to pick up the photos. We are documenting the creation of our books. Ciao for now!

Making Christmas Projects with my Cricut

Hello! Sunday is almost over and man I have to go back to work tomorrow! I so wish I could have a fun job like designing cards and stamps! Oh well, back to reality! Today I spent my morning catching up on some episodes of Flipping Out and the other half of the day playing in my studio. I know I've set it before but I'm going to say it again and I'm sure it won't be the last time, I LOVE MY CRICUT! And my DH for getting it for me for my first forty-something birthday!

I am going to participate in a Christmas Open House in November. There will be various women selling homemade items. I plan on selling Christmas cards, Christmas gift tags, and coordinating gift bags. If I have time I might add to that list but we will see....

So, here are some pics of what I did today, I made the gift tags by cutting out the tags, circle and snowflake with the cricut. I did some stamping to the tags, they are cut just as is but I really think they needed to be stamped with some Christmas stamps. I also made a snowflake Christmas card and then cut out a snowflake then embossed it and used a dimensional foam cutout so it would stand off the card. If you have any questions just click on the word comment below my post and leave me a note and I'll get back to you. Ciao!

Christmas in August

Hope you have had a great weekend, mine was fun. Yesterday I went to my niece Marisa's birthday part at Sweet & Sassy and it was loads of fun! Today has been a lazy day, one that was needed! Here is a peek at my first Christmas card, will start making more soon. I used my Swiss Dots Embossing Cuttlebug Folder, Cricut to cut tree and a new stamp bought at Hobby Lobby.

Cuttlebug oh Cuttlebug.....How Sweet thou art!

So, today I came directly home, cooked dinner and quickly retired to my studio. I pulled out the cuttlebug and nestabilities and put them to work. It was so easy and quick to make the scallops and circles. I used Bazill papers, the photos don't do the card justice as the colors are much brighter. I decided to use a black cardstock for the card so that the fuschia and green would really pop and they do. Although I love my new cricut this cuttlebug (which is made by the same company Provo Craft) will be really handy when I need to do a quick card. I only have two sets of the nestabilities so I limited to what I can do with the cuttlebug for now. What is really neat is that I can also use my dies from my quickutz squeeze! I know, you are starting to think I am either spoiled or addicted to shopping for my studio, lol. I will say it is a little of both, lol. With the purchase of the cuttlebug and zutter binder I decided that I needed to move things around. So, I moved my Cricut to the bookshelf and the cuttlebug and zutter binder followed. I will have to get after my DH to get back to his honey-do-list and build that new built in bookcase! I need more storage space!! AND, I failed to mention that I bought my cuttlebug at 50% off! I had been eyeing it for sometime but knew I wouldn't buy it without a 50% off coupon from Michael's!! Hope your weekend started out well, ciao.

June Birthdays.....Summer Fun!

Hello All! Well the month of June brings many birthdays for me, my dear friend Gina is on the 7th then there is my friend Brad on the 12th and then Kara and Kelly on the 13th! Then on to Lori on the 20th and mine on the 21st and then Judy brings up the rear on the 29th. Happy Birthday to you all! Tonight, my sweetie and I met our friends Kara/Brad, and Christina/Roy at Chuy's in The Woodlands! We had some great drinks and great food too! It was a great time, mostly they made fun of how dingy I have become since I became a Mrs. he he. My sweet friends gave me a charm each for my Pandora Bracelet. I got a sweet little girl that represents Kara and Brad's twin girls Addie and Chloe. And Christina and Roy gave me a suitcase charm as they are quite the travelers. It is so cool to look at my bracelet and be reminded of my loved ones! Then when Andy and I got home he decided to give me my birthday gift early, after all it's only 3 days away and who am I to tell him no :)
He is such a sweetheart!! He knew exactly what I wanted, OK so I did mention a couple of months ago a few items that I would like someday but it was he who did the choosing. Here is what my sweetie got me! Isn't he the best!! As always you can click on the pink words to follow the links.
