So much talent out there!

I am amazed every day how so many women out there are so talented and that they are so wonderful in wanting to share their tips, and ideas. I am a member of a great site called Card of the Week that was started by Susanna Boyd. I can't recall how I found her site, I'm sure it was through another talented ladies site. I find myself checking her blog every day, my friend Kara thinks I'm such a dork for doing this but there are so many great people out there to learn from. The card shown above Make a Big Splash by Amy Rysavy at Prairie Paper and Ink is awesome and one of many great cards that are out there for us to learn from. It was featured on Susanna's blog today, when you have time please check out her blog Barefoot Stamper, she gives out links to other wonderful women who make incredible cards, stationary and other things as well. Incase you didn't realize it, you can click on the pink bold words to follow the links. Have a great weekend!

Our Wet Bar

As promised here are just a few photos of our wet bar before and after. As you can see the prior home owner liked a very colorful room. Now, I'm not saying that is a bad thing, it's just that this was not how I would have done the bar area as it is open to our family room. So, we tore down the old cabinet doors and had custom doors made for me to paint and we tore off the old painted counter top and my sweet dad Robert installed a new laminate. My DH tore out the old shelves and re-installed them evenly spaced and also built a wine bottle holder within one of the old cabinet openings. He also installed a new sink and cabinet hardware, with my help I might add. I am a very lucky girl to be married to such a "handy" man and he looks cute in a tool belt too. he he. We applied a wall treatment and then did a faux paint on it and also added some Fleur De Li's on the wall too. The only thing left to do is to maybe paint the ceiling a color that blends better with the walls but we'll see. For now this is our new wet bar, if you click on the photos they will open in a new window in a larger size.

Weekend Project

I couldn't let a three day weekend go by without a little work in my Pinkalicious Scrap room! On Saturday we spent the WHOLE day working on the cabinet doors in our bar room (photos to come later). So, I decided that I would spend some me time on Sunday and Monday. I often find myself putting way too much time into a project so I told myself this time it would be a fun and simple book of one of our wedding showers. So, I started it on Sunday and finished it today, Monday, that is a huge accomplishment for me, lol. I used Bazzil Papers and the Ruby album by Cosmo Cricket. I took a few photos to share with you all, hope you like. Well, back to the laundry, hope you have had a great three day weekend!

Friendship

New found friendship... last weekend we went to SA for the graduation party and decided to spend the night and take our niece to Fiesta Texas. We had a blast, it was a little rough starting out but we quickly got into a groove and figured out what rides would work best for all of us. Sorry that I didn't get a chance to post anything on creating. This week was a busy week and the only thing I did as it related to scrapbooking was going to my LSS to pick up a few things that I just couldn't do without. Hehe, does that sound familiar?

Congrats to the grad!

We are heading off to San Antonio Saturday morning to attend my cousin Matilda's graduation party. She is graduating from the University of Texas, Go Longhorns! Truth be told I don't hold any Texas school over the others. This is a card I made my cousin which holds a check instead of the gift card shown in the picture. You might have guessed that I really like this design, I lifted it from KWerner, she had a tutorial of a similar card or at least the concept. This is a fast and cute card so hard not to repeat it! Well, it is very late and I must hit the sack, or should I say early. Have a great Saturday!

Birthday Invites

Well, this week I didn't have much time to add more to the blog so I decided that today I would share some photos of the birthday invites I made for my favorite twins last month! Their birthday was held at the Oil Ranch so the farm theme was fitting. These adorable girls belong to my good friend Kara. I knew that she would get a kick out of these and hope you enjoy them too! I used a couple of digital kits combined (Born in a barn and Farm Friends) bought online and then did some editing via Photoshop. The photos were printed out at my local Walgreens via Snapfish then I assembled them at home. I matted the photos on blk card stock so that they had a nice border. The one of the girls was the front of invite, the wording was on the backside (I smudged the phone # here to protect the innocent). And lastly, I made her fill in the blank thank you cards. I believe that if you click on the photo they will show in a larger file. Have a great weekend!

Is Organization bordering on obsession?

So, in my quest to be organized I find myself wanting and wanting and wanting. Today I had no lunch buddies to eat with so I decided to make a trip to Michael's. After all I did find a 50% off coupon in this Sunday's paper, it was in the Parade magazine. I rarely look at that unless I see something or someone of interest on the cover and this time I did. Who? I can't recall, lol, but I did find the coupon and that was so cool! For some time now I have been eyeing the Making Memories Embellishment Center. I was so undecided only because I kept focusing on their use of the center. The main product that stuck out to me were the bottles of paint, in so many nice colors too! So I would often tell myself that I didn't have the need for it but then it hit me, I was over thinking it! Hello! I can use it for other items as well! So, today was the day that I was meant to buy it and so I did. It was meant to be, really it was, so many other times that I would walk into the store they didn't have any but today they did. And so in the trunk it went and then after dinner with my DH and my parents I came home and hung it. And so then it hit me, is my quest of organization bordering on obsession? LOL

Oh, one other thing that I did buy last week at Target that was too cute to pass up was the cuckoo clock made of black acrylic. This one was not on sale but it wasn't too much and it was begging to be hung up in my sweet pink room that I do love so! And in the process of taking it out of the box I broke off two small pieces at the bottom, oh well.

Cards, cards and more cards

That is what most of my week consisted of and so I was a busy girl in my sweet pink room. I made the birthday invites for the 50th party, then I got a last minute request to make some stationary as Graduation gifts and a couple of wedding gift card holders too. My sweet hubby and I went shopping one evening and he suggested that I this time not make our Mother's Day cards since I had so much on my plate. I reluctantly gave in but then tonight after I finished up the stationary I decided to make just two cards. We are off to Tyler this weekend to see my in-laws, I really enjoy seeing them. They are so sweet to me and I feel at home with them so it's road trip time. I hope that any Mom that may read this blog have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! I'm adding a pic of one of the two cards I made for Mother's day and the two Gift Card holders for wedding gifts.

Could we have a garden?

A couple of days ago I walked outside to see our side garden area. There was some weeding to be done, so not fun! I noticed that our rose bush was getting some buds. I made a note to myself to check it out a couple of days later to see what we had coming in. Well, today I went outside a bit with Andy and there they were, our roses. I think we might just need to plant a few more bushes.......Rose garden maybe?

Vinyl

That was the theme of my latest birthday party invite project for a co-workers husband's 50th birthday. I created the invite and record digitally on Photoshop CS2, I bought a digital package online that included the record then I simply customized it to match her colors. I used a punch to cut out the record, that saved me loads of time. I had the copy printed on a 4x6 photo so there was no trimming required on that part. I did have to trim the black card stock used behind the copy but I used my trusty Purple Cow purchased at my LSS so it was a breeze! It took overall 3-4 hrs to design and assemble the 50 invites. Well, I'm off to bed hope you had a great start to the week, catch up later!

National Scrapbooking Day

Well, hope you had a great day this past Saturday in observance of National Scrapbooking Day! I went to Michael's and used my 2nd 50% off coupon to purchase a circle cutter which I needed to do an invitation project for one of my co-workers. Her husband's 50th bday is this June and she wanted invites with a vinyl 45 on it so I got the circle cutter to help make my job easier. I worked on her sample card and on the designing of it in Photoshop as I'm doing part of it digitally. I will post a photo of it later tonight so that you can see what I came up with. Yesterday I ran by Walgreens to pick up a Snapfish order and couldn't resist looking at the BHG Scrapbooks Etc magazine. In it I found an ad for a very cool new tool that I hadn't seen before. It is sorta like my tagger but this one is a bit more pricey but is a little more attractive I think as far as the embellishments you can use it on. Take a peek, I will add it to my must have list and once I get it I will let you know and or if you have one drop me a line and let me know if you like it! Be sure to check out the Ka-jinker!

Then there was light..

Wow, this week flew by and my intent was to blog each and every week day but as you can see this didn't work out as planned. It was a busy week, well not too busy but I spent some of my time working on my mini love book and watching hockey. My DH loves hockey and is a Dallas Stars fan and so I too am learning to love it. So, I'm sure you are wondering what any of this has to do with light? Well, it doesn't but today I went to Michael's during lunch with my little yellow Michael's post it note coupon. And this week it was 50% off, yep! I went to the store, walked the isle's wondering what was going to call my name. I was starting to think that it would be a lost cause and I would be buying something like adhesive, chipboard or maybe a punch. But, then I turned the corner and there they were, OTT-Lite's, so many to choose from too! I went with a table top light and off I went to go checkout. I have been wanting one of these for sometime but never wanted to spend the money. Guess it was finally meant to be, and so there was light. Well, I am going to go back to watching my Thursday night shows that I saved on the DVR. Goodnight for now.
