Pretty Storage and My Birthday Present

Hello there!  I know, it's been a while hasn't it!  Well, since I last wrote I turned the BIG 4-5, YIKES.  My age has never been an issue with me but this year it was sorta weird for me, LOL.  But, what wasn't weird was the awesome birthday present that the hubby got me!

As usual, you can click on the photo to see it in a larger size.

That picture is the instagram I took and posted as we were buying it, eek!  I am still over the moon excited and totally in love with the camera!  I almost love it as much as I love my husband, really!

The photo above is my very first photo taken with my new camera using the 85mm 1.8 lens.  I am in love with the amazing depth of field it gives!  I totally love the blur (known as Bokeh) and that the iPhone is what is in focus.  The phone by the way is not mine, that was my hubby's new toy that he got.  I hope to get one when my phone is up for renewal.

The one above was taken with the 85mm 1.8 and has amazing "bokeh" in the background.  As you can see the trees are all blurred and there are small circles created by the light and the low f-stop of 1.8 used.  I'm telling you, I love me some bokeh!  Also, isn't he totally yummy, my hubby, yes he is and he does look pretty sexy on that bike.  During the week he is often wearing slacks and button down shirts but this is his "riding" look. YUM.

And the photo above is also taken with the 85mm 1.8 but this one was taken the day that I took the online photography course over at Shoot Fly Shoot.  It helped me finally "get" the manual settings on my DSLR.  I had my "ah ha" moment during this course, the guys did an amazing job explaining the fundamentals.  If you are still using your DSLR on automatic and are ready to take photos that are at their best potential then visit that site and learn how to go "Manual".

So, now we are on to a photo I took with the 50mm 1.8 which is a very affordable lens.  This lens isn't fancy but it does a great job!  I wanted to have a 50mm but after getting the 85mm I didn't want to spend too much.  I love the slight "bokeh" in this one too, the camera does a pretty good job for $114 (got it on sale) don't you think.  If you look closely at the jar with the ribbon behind that first glass dish you will see that it was that jar the I was focused in on. Love how everything else is blurred.  Yes, that was on purpose!

And in the photo above you can see I focused in on that first glass dish along with the one holding the buttons and most of the rest of the photo is blurred.  Again, that was on purpose as I used the f/1.8 had I used a higher Fstop I could have had the entire photo in focus.  But, that isn't what I was going for when playing with this lens.

The jars are a fun way to keep things organized in my studio, don't you love it!  I know I sure do!

And my last photo is of the Advent Cubby Calendar that I originally featured HERE.  I have put it to use storing my washi tape and flair button.  I took some of the boxes out so that you could see some of the tape.  It was sitting on my floor for the longest time then finally the light bulb went off in my head and storage it became!

Digital Brushes Used on photos are from Rhonna Designs

Thanks for stopping by friends!

Alexis, the link to the cubby is linked to the word "HERE" under the photo, if you meant the very last photo that is.
