Second Chance Challenge - Sketchy Thursdays

OK, I'm on a roll creating for myself today with the help of Sketchy Thursdays who has teamed up with the Jingle Belles!  I haven't written two posts in the same week much less the same day in some time!

The ladies at Jingle Belles Rock came up with a great idea of creating Christmas cards using their sketches all year long! Not sure if I can participate consistently but sure would be awesome if I could so that I would have all my Christmas cards ready for the 2011 Christmas holiday!

Go HERE to learn more and play along with the challenge if you can!

And here is my submission using some of my favorite papers and stamp for sentiment from the girls' paperie designed by Margie Romney-Aslett

Layout Help from Sketchy Thursdays

Hi there! Hope you had a great Valentine's Day week and that you are looking forward to this coming week, I suppose I am although I'm not ready to start my work week, lol.

I've mentioned previously that layouts don't come easy to me, I started out as a stamper, card maker, mixed media and mini album maker.  Over the last year and a half I have been trying my hand at layouts but they don't come easy!  I'm amazed at how creative some women are with their layouts and am also learning that many of them go to others for help.  Well, this week I went to Sketchy Thursday's blog which you can find HERE for help.  They offer layout designs to use as a basis when doing your layouts, love it and saw some items that others had used and realized that they too must have used ST!

So, with all that said here is my layout using this months Girls Loft monthly kit and I think it turned out perfect if I do say so myself!!  The papers used are from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found line, lovely! Here is the link to the actual post for this layout design HERE challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Be Mine the Layout

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend, I'm assuming everyone is celebrating it as Valentine's weekend since the day falls on Monday.  My sweet hubby spoils me all year round so I don't ask for an evening out for Valentines as I don't care to be out with everyone on our extra special night.  We instead have a nice evening at home with a few extra perks thrown in.

I've been working on some kits this weekend, part of teaching at www.scrappnsavvy.com requires the teachers to design and kit a 2 page layout on our assigned week which mine is the week of Feb 14th.

I used Cosmo Cricket's Hey Sugar Line, I like that it doesn't yell Valentines as it uses more of an orangey red along with some aqua and cream.  Not sure if I'm not suppose to share it just yet but it's due out tomorrow so I'm going to live dangerously, lol.

This page below has two hidden journaling pieces, one behind the photo as seen peeking out and another below the You + Me piece.  You can click on the photos to see them in a larger size.

Ok, for this page there is one hidden journaling card again underneath the photos as seen peeking out.  What I like about this page is that you can add as many or as few photos as you like.  I chose to print out some small photos so I could add multiple photos.

There is one of the journaling pieces peeking out on the far left.

This flower below is adorable isn't it! It's from Stampin' Up and you can even buy a stamp to give it an even neater look to it although mine is on order so I simply inked the edges of the flower.  You can go HERE to order it. It's called Blossom Petal Punch and Build a Blossom stamp set, my friend Judy will take great care of you.

This is one of the journaling cards, you simply journal on the backside.

Another journaling piece.

Thanks for stopping by, if you are local and want to buy the two page layout kit you can contact Karrie at her shop www.scrappnsavvy.com

Here is one more photo of the blossom on a card I made this past week at Judy's for our monthly card club. Isn't it adorable when used with the stamp, can't wait to get my stamp set!

More of the Be Mine Pieces

Hello friends!  I’m back with a few more photos, I dropped off the pieces I created at my LSS last week before I took photos of all of the pieces together so ran by there today and took photos.

The store owner of www.scrappnsavvy.com Karrie decided to decorate a wreath and garland on the mantel with the pieces I created, as you can see the clothespins aren’t painted too dark.  I simply rubbed some of Tim Holtz “Red Brick” on one side of the clothes pins, not too dark just enough to give it some color.  I then glued some butterflies to every other clothespin, why? Because I was too lazy to punch more butterflies, LOL

If I was going to hang these on my mantel I would simply hang some tulle like a clothes line with bows at each end then using the clothespins I would pin them to the tulle line.  I had every intention of making some for my mantel but haven’t yet, I am in a creative funk at the moment and so all my “want to create mojo” was used up on those, lol.  I might still do something this week as I have no problem leaving decor up till the end of February ;)

Thanks for the sweet comments left on my last post!

I used the Bo Bunny Press Crazy Love Collection along with some Bazzill cardstock as well as some red crepe paper.  And as usual you can click on the photo to see it in a larger size.

For the layout below I added a photo of some friends, so lucky to have friends who share their photos with me.P2070844

The piece below is a case holder for cd’s and so I decided to recycle it and decorate it. P2070847

She added the lollies to the her wreath, turned out cute. P2070848

Be Mine

Hope you are doing great! I've been a bad blogger ;) figured I would share a photo I took with my phone of part of the banner I created for my LSS to use to decorate one of their mantels. I inked some clothes pins and added a butterfly to every other one so she could hang them sorta like clothes on a clothes line.

Hope you are having a great weekend!
