Back in the saddle again!

I’m back from a weekend trip to Odessa with my hubby to visit his sister Gay and her family.  She has two adorable grandbabies and I spent most of my time snapping photos of them!  I shared one picture yesterday of Hunter playing with water and here is another one that turned out pretty cool!  I used my camera on manual settings and so that allowed me to catch the water in some really neat ways!  He was having so much fun with the doggies and their doggy house!  I also am sharing photos of Ben, one photo is a little blurry but it’s an adorable picture none the less and so I’m sharing it as well as one that he looks oh so serious in, hehe.  I will be doing lots of scrapbooking with photos from this trip and I’ll be sure to share!

Play Time

Well, I was going to stay offline but I just had to share this photo with you all.  This is my grand nephew Hunter, he lives in Odessa.  We are visiting my sister in law and she has two adorable grandbabies and one more on the way.  My sweet hubby is getting some coyote hunting in during the evenings and lounging during the day.  I actually took a really long nap yesterday! Well, hope your Memorial Day weekend is going well!  We thank all those that have fought and those continuing to fight for our freedom!

Moxie Fab World Trigger Tuesday

OK. So I’m late to the party but I wanted to share the Hybrid card I made using the Trigger Tuesday Card.

This card was created by Jessica and it’s the trigger card that Betsy chose as her inspiration.  Isn’t it adorable!  I love me some pattern and so it was easy for me to be inspired by this card!  I not only love the pattern but I love how each of the items in each square is highlighted by the yellow doily behind it!  As soon as I saw this card I knew what I wanted to do using some of my House of 3 Spring Junque.  I must tell you that the butterfly is inspired by the project that we made with Janet this past weekend.

OK.  So using the above card as my inspiration I came up with this card below.  I simply printed out the blue patterned paper found from this KIT but only after I had stamped it with one of the images from this SET.  I then added a digital border from this KIT to represent the ribbon that Jessica used.  Then I printed it out on card stock and trimmed it down and embellished it with some stickles and glossy accents.  To finish it off I printed out the card on a transparency then cut out the butterflies and using my glossy accents attached them to the card.  Applied my created piece to some bazzill cardstock and quickly fell in love with it!   I do miss stamping the old fashion way but this time around I truly feel that digital stamping was just fine!  Thanks to Jessica, Betsy and Janet for the inspiration!!

Girls Day at By Design

I hope you had a great weekend!  I sure did and it started out with working on a birthday gift for my friend Janet who happens to be “the Janet” of the House of 3!  I got to spend Saturday with her at By Design, she had some great projects for us to make and we all had a blast!  What made it an even better day is that I got to spend it with some new friends made during class!  I have said it before and I will say it again, you meet some incredible people when you are in the paper crafting hobby!!

Here is what I made Janet using some of the House of 3 Spring Junque which I customized a bit using Photoshop.  I think she liked it!  Sorry for my poor picture quality but it was late at night when I took the photo.  The entire project only took me a couple of hours if that and I had everything I needed at home.

OK, so now on to our class projects, in the first class we made some jewelry and a gift box to display it and gift it in.  It turned out so adorable, we all enjoyed the project and loved how easy it was to create!  Most of the items used are all from the House of 3, the heart shaped box and the papers are HO3 however the jewelry pieces are not House of 3.

Then she had a brief class on what the House of 3 is all about (yes I know you are wondering why I took that since I’m a HO3 junkie, well it was free since I took the other two classes)  We got to do a make and take and it was also lots of fun and we all made different ones, sorry I didn’t photograph some of the others as they were way cuter than mine!  You can go here to get the template, wouldn’t these be cute for a shower, wedding, bday party!  You could fill these cones with all sorts of yummies!

P5237295

There’s more you ask? Yes, I took a total of three classes with Janet and the last class we had some additional folks join in on the fun and fun it was!  We created an adorable 5x8.5 mini album using the Spring Junque papers along with some cute mini pocket folders and some clear Bazzill for the front and back.  The assembly of this mini album is like that of the mini sweetheart album I created back in February, Heidi shared a tutorial in one of her Wednesday night Live shows.  If you are interested in viewing it let me know and I will find the link for ya ;)

I should mention that the front of my book is a little different than the others as I used a different piece on mine and so if you want to see the original go to Janet’s post here to see the one she used, it’s adorable.

And if this post wasn’t already long enough I have to mention that I got to meet Margie Romney Aslett who was teaching the same day at Scrapbook Junkie which lucky for me was less than a 5 minute drive.  We were lucky that the first class Janet taught ended sooner than expected so we had time before our lunch break to head over to see Margie.  And yes!  I bought two of the class kits she was teaching and YES!!! She is as adorable in person as she is online!  Here is a photo of the two of us, I hate getting photographed but had to share this photo with you anyway!!

OK, so I’m going to share one more pic of me, my outfit was too cute if I do say so myself, hehe.  Gotta love some pink/gray camo and what better place to wear my pink gear then at the pink store By Design Scrapbook Boutique.

“the girls’ paperie” by Margie is a home run!

Wanted to share another layout that I created this weekend using more of the incredible May Kit from the kit club, the girls loft.  All of the items (excluding the glittered chipboard fonts, those are by American Crafts) were from Margie Romney Aslett’s own line!  I truly love her line, it is amazing!  And do I share a secret with you?  Well, I started out as a card making girl and only over the last few months have I been doing actual layouts and I’m loving it!  I’m going to submit a few of these layouts in the design team call that Margie is having.  Wish me luck! I know there are many talented women out there trying out for it but figured I would give it a try, can’t hurt right?

P5157255 The cutie in the layout is my brothers youngest Kathleen, isn’t she simply adorable and so beautiful!  Her beautiful sister Marisa was the one in this weekends layout, they are wonderful girls!

P5157254 P5157250

Before I go here is a third layout I did with the same kit, this one is nice and simple, it’s one of my favorite photos from our wedding and I know it keeps popping up but I simply love it!

Recycling…..

When creating one thing that you should consider is the packaging that your products come in.  Here I wanted to share with you what I did with some packaging from the girls paperie.  I first decided that the “M” would look great with the pink background piece of the ribbon packaging.  I simply stuck the M on it and cut it out leaving some border around it.   Then as I continued creating the shape of the packaging kept calling my name and I knew I had to use it somehow!  Well, I simply turned it over and added some Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy to age it up a bit.  I then glued it to a journaling spot and then added the M piece to the opposite side and a fantastic new piece was easily created for my layout.  So, think outside the box or better yet, use the box, LOL.  The entire layout (except the green chip font) was created using items from the May Kit from “the girls loft” and if you haven’t purchased a kit from them I ask….what are you waiting for ;)

Wednesday Night Live!

The show is back on tonight so don’t miss out on all the fun!  I’m teaching at class and it is scheduled to end about 8pm so I will be getting on late if I get to get on at all.  The good news is that they record the show so I can watch it later but to tell ya the truth, half the fun is being on live and chatting with all my friends!  Head on over the Heidi Swapp’s blog to get the links needed if you don’t have them already.  happy hump day!

Mother’s Day card via House of 3

It’s late on Wednesday night and I got behind on my to do’s and so I just finished a Mother’s Day card for my wonderful Mother in law.  Luckily, she doesn’t live to far out of town so the card should make it to her by this weekend as long as I don’t forget to drop it off tomorrow.  I decided to send her one of my silk flowers and incorporated it into the card.  I was worried she might not realize it was removable so I simply punched a circle to put the clip through.  I used some of House of 3 Spring Junque printable backgrounds to print out the card.

I did decide to personalize it using Photoshop and added the Happy Mother’s Day to the page.  You can do this using word too, simply print out the the page then go into word and type the word you want so that it prints out in the location you need it to be and then print it.  Super easy!!  I also decided to embellish it with some pink rick rack and then just inked the edges of the card a bit.  Ohhh, I did also add the lady’s silhouette with a digital brush again from my House of 3 stash.  I think had I simply printed out this paper without personalizing it with the Happy Mother’s Day and Silhouette it would have been fine.  I then opened my Silhouette SD and opened the tickets and then personalized those and sent them to my printer then through my Silhouette to cut the shapes out.  Love, Love, Love the ability to do that!!  As I told the ladies of House of 3, my carpel tunnel thanks them, less cutting by hand!

If you have any questions on anything you see feel free to leave me a comment and a way to reach you if you don’t have a blog.  Thanks for stopping by!

Flowers are the rage….

I’m sure you all have seen flowers here there and everywhere!  Well, this past Wednesday night the FABULOUS Rhonna Farrer shared her flower making skills with us and so I decided to give it a try.  These are my first attempts (not very good ones) and I will be trying out a few more before I make my first Silk Flower necklace.  Have you tried it out? If so let me know and I would love to see a link to your post on your handmade flowers if you have done so.  Have a great Sunday!
