You.Me.Us

Designing a class is much harder than I thought it would be, when I design for myself I throw caution to the wind.  After all it’s just for me and if I don’t like it I will only disappoint myself.  Right?  Now designing for a class for others is a whole different story!  Will they like it? Will it appeal to their own taste? Will they laugh?  Will anyone show up?

I decided in March that for one of my classes I would teach an altered item verses a layout, all I had to do was convince the store owner into letting me do this.  I was successful, then I had to come up with an idea that I felt would draw folks to my class and I thought I had it all figured out.  Then I looked and looked for the right items to bring my idea to life and I wasn’t in luck and so the project took another life of its own.

I used a 7 Gypsies Printer Tray along with one sheet from the Dear Lizzy line as well as ribbon set called Leaf from the same line.  That combined with music sheets, Tim Holtz hinge clips, some stamps and butterflies I cut out with my Silhouette.  I came across some old photos of Andy and I and then decided to make it all about US.  I hope that my students will enjoy creating a project all about themselves and if they decide that they would rather make it all about someone else then it could be a great gift.

If you are in the Houston area you can take my May class at The Lonestar Scrapbook Co in the Woodlands just click here for the dates of my May class Life in 3-D.

Anniversary Card

Just wanted to share a card I made for a friend, her parents are celebrating their 50th Wedding anniversary! Isn’t that awesome, I will be 90 when my hubby and I celebrate our 50th ;)

I used a fold technique that can be found at this LINK and then just changed up the size to a 4” x 8.5” so that it would be a bit grander than the size the tutorial calls out.  I then used a metallic Bazzill card stock for the base of the card and then I came across another metallic paper that I had on hand that was a contrasting color.  I picked up a swirl pattern and added that as a third paper and then using my silhouette I cut some butterflies.  I used a page from an old music book and punched out some circles to make flowers.  I know they are showing up on many of my projects but they are easy and cute so I can’t help but add them to many of my projects.  I added some gold metallic paint to the edges of the flowers and distressed them as well.  The glittered buttons are from American Crafts and the Together Forever is a HO3 cut via my silhouette.   The poem on the front of the card was printed on a transparency and attached with some glossy accents.

Hope you have had a great weekend, so sad that it’s almost over!

How about The Girls Loft!

Hopefully you are familiar with The Girls Loft and if not you are missing out so quick go here and sign up to get signed up for their monthly kit.  The Girls Loft is run by the adorable and fabulous Margie Romney-Aslett and her two adorable girls Brooke and Megan.  The April Kit is called Signing In The Rain.   Can’t decide if the layout flows ok and if I should have added some journaling but I still like it.

The adorable little girl in the photo is my brother’s youngest Kathleen, she turned 5 this year and she is full of spunk just like her daddy was when he was that age.

Sunday’s Layout

Just a quick post to share with you one more layout I created using February’s kit from the Girls Loft, this is my niece Alexa she is Madison and Brianna’s little sister. She is her own person, she is a momma’s girl and if you asked her who she would like to spend a day with she would say her momma. My sweetheart Andy adores her and it’s so sweet to see how much he enjoys her visits and he chose SHORTY as her nickname and she actually giggles when he calls her that, too cute!

Late night play time

I spent most of my afternoon and evening in my craft studio, I did some cleaning  in our master and living room areas as soon as I got up and so I rewarded myself with play time later!  I so love my hobby and wish that I could have a career in the industry as so many incredible women like the House of 3 girls do.  I like to think I have some good work but when I spend time looking at other blogs and industry sites I realize that I could improve my techniques but hey we all work in our own ways right? ;)

So, here I am sharing some layouts I did late last night of my nieces Brianna and Madison, they are my sister Gina’s girls and I do love them so!  Aren’t they beautiful!

This layout of Brianna who just turned 15yrs old this month was created using the February kit from the Girls loft, I don’t always have time to create the month my kit comes in and I’m glad that I didn’t that month because I think these papers worked out well for Brianna’s layout.  She is our little Rebel and is her own person.  She is a girly girl but not the pink girly girl and i think these papers worked out well with her photo taken during spring break by my mom.  My picture taking has been off lately so please excuse the quality, I  didn’t take the time to find the best light.

The layout below is of Brianna’s older sister Madison, my niece Madison always has a smile on her face and she is a people pleaser.  She is girly girl too but she is more the blingy type.  I didn’t haven the papers on hand other than the black Bazzill cardstock so I simply printed out some Glitz Girls Design papers.  I have their Hot Mamma line in digital so I was able to open up the files and hit the print button and I was ready to create!  The printed papers combined with some of their sticker line turned out a cute layout.

Spring has arrived….Finally!

Well, the weather has improved and I feel that we really are enjoying SPRING TIME!  I decided to decorate our mantle with some of my all time favorite House of 3 goodies!  I used some of their Spring line and let me tell you I am loving it!  Every time I think Rhonna has out done herself she surprises us with something ever more wonderful that the last!  So, stop on over at the www.houseof3.com and get you some Spring Junque! Here are some photos for you to check out what our  place is looking like, please excuse the photos, they are not my best!

For the piece in the frame I simply printed out one of the Spring Junque Backgrounds in a 4x6 size and then cut out one of the Spring Junque Seals and glued it to the base piece.  I then added a third layer by adding the Welcome Spring banner which was a freebie from their Brush Live show.

In the picture below I punched out some of the Spring Junque Seals and added them to some ribbon.  I also printed out the Spring Junque Banner Printable in the original size and I also printed it out reduced to 50% to make the small banners. The small circle punched pieces hanging on the left vertically are part of the Spring Junque Banner Printable set.P4106989P4106990

To  spell out SPRING I simply printed out a yellow damask printable paper from the House Warming Sunny Backgrounds Kit and typed the letters in an Outlaw font style and simply printed it out and punched out.P4106991The white tissue flower you see is made with coffee filters, Rhonna did a tutorial on them and I don’t recall where the video is but if you are interested let me know and I will find it for you!P4106994

If you have any questions please leave me a comment and I will get back to you!  If you haven’t given House of 3 a try yet I encourage you to do so now, they kits can be used in so many ways for so many occasions!  Happy Saturday!

Tag Swap and House of 3 Live

Hello friends!  Well, I know I said I was done with birthdays and moving on to spring projects but HELLOOOOOOOOO I forgot that the first tag set for the Tag Swap Group I was invited to play along on is Birthday tag.  LOL.  So, I had to make 18 duplicate tags and get them in the mailbox to my new friend Shye in Arizona.   Again I have to say that this awesome hobby has been a blessing in that I have come to meet so many incredible women!

I wanted to use some leftover paper that I had printed from the House of 3 Printable Valentine Background Papers  to make the flowers.  I am trying to first look at what I have and work with what I have if possible.  They don’t look like valentine papers now that I have cut them up into circles do they?  I also took some laser jet transparencies and printed out another piece from House of 3.  I simply opened up one of my birthday backgrounds paper and cropped out the part that showed just the words and then duplicated it over 3x’s on the sheet and printed them out on transparencies and cut them down to fit my tags.  These will be in the mail on their way to Arizona in another day or so, hope they like them!

Canton Texas

We went to Canton Texas for the First Monday Trade Days and we walked, and we walked and then we walked some more!  I was shocked at how many people were there, and how many more kept driving in.  We (my hubby and I) both found a few treasures so by the end of our four hour shopping trip we agreed that it was a successful shopping day.   He found more coins for his coin collection and I found two more mason jars to add to my newly started collection.  I also found some awesome chandelier crystals to use in various projects and also picked up some beads and findings and some mold tins.  We then headed to Tyler Texas to visit my wonderful mother and father in-law and Andy’s grandma!  All in all it was a good weekend and I hope yours was too!  Have a great week!

The crowds

They rent out scooters there and too many if you ask me!  Even folks who looked like they could have walked easily were on them, most of the time they were in our way.

There were lots of pets everywhere you looked and there is even a section there where you can buy a pet dog, cat, pig, sheep, goat etc.

Then there was this cute little cowboy buying some coins with his own money!

The Birthday Girls

Here are a couple of photos that were sent to my cell phone via my friends phone, the girls loved their decorations and party bags.  I also wanted to point out what my friend did, she simply printed out some photos from the internet of the characters the girls wanted.  She then laminated them and decorated the cakes with them.  Isn’t it cute how Chloe has the cookie cake and Addie went with a traditional cake, love it!

Just a little more birthday fun….

OK.  I know you are probably growing old of hearing about birthdays on my blog but I have two more.  I have a friend who has two adorable twins who are turning the BIG FIVE!  Since I don’t have kiddos I often like to give birthday invites as my gift and for the last 4 yours I have made their birthday invites as well as this years 5th birthday invite shown HERE.   Well, as part of my birthday gift to the girls I made them banners to hang up at their home for their birthday party.  I failed to take photos of the banners so hopefully my friend will  take a few snapshots so I can share them with you.  For now here are the gift bags I decorated and the cake toppers (they each get their own cake).  I used some House of 3 birthday printables and simply cut them and using my Tim Holtz mini attacher quickly decorated them.  I also made them a little paper necklace that they can wear when blowing out their candles and then printed out two of the birthday cards.  So, hope you enjoy the photos and if you are interested in getting your own set of House of 3 goodies just go HERE.
