Designing a class is much harder than I thought it would be, when I design for myself I throw caution to the wind. After all it’s just for me and if I don’t like it I will only disappoint myself. Right? Now designing for a class for others is a whole different story! Will they like it? Will it appeal to their own taste? Will they laugh? Will anyone show up?
I decided in March that for one of my classes I would teach an altered item verses a layout, all I had to do was convince the store owner into letting me do this. I was successful, then I had to come up with an idea that I felt would draw folks to my class and I thought I had it all figured out. Then I looked and looked for the right items to bring my idea to life and I wasn’t in luck and so the project took another life of its own.
I used a 7 Gypsies Printer Tray along with one sheet from the Dear Lizzy line as well as ribbon set called Leaf from the same line. That combined with music sheets, Tim Holtz hinge clips, some stamps and butterflies I cut out with my Silhouette. I came across some old photos of Andy and I and then decided to make it all about US. I hope that my students will enjoy creating a project all about themselves and if they decide that they would rather make it all about someone else then it could be a great gift.
