Giving Comfort – Please Read

LC_Friend_CardDrive1

Each day I go along thinking about what I do and don’t have and sometimes I forget just how BLESSED I am!   I have family members who are fighting cancer and who have beat cancer.  We have all been touched by this horrible disease!

I am here on behalf of a friend whose life has been touched by Breast Cancer!  She has a dear friend who was diagnosed not too long ago with Breast Cancer and is now going through some of the symptoms of the treatments.  We are hoping that you can help us out, she would love to leave her dear friend Handmade cards for her to find, you know in the “Secret Santa” style.   So, we are hoping you can help us out here by making a handmade card and maybe including an encouraging note for her and signed with your name.  If so we would forever be so grateful as she loves all things handmade!

Simply email me at my email address shown on the right sidebar and I can give you my friends address.  She will then over the course of the next few months sneak cards to her friend.  You don’t have to do anything super fancy, just something that you think will bring her some joy.  Please let me know if you have any questions and if you wish to post a link to this post that would be awesome!

Blogging has brought me to so many new friends and so I thank you for stopping by and helping out should you wish to.

The art shown below is one created by Rhonna Farrer for her challenge 21 last year and I thought that it might be fitting, we have the power to help out someone and help make the world a better place!  If you want to learn more about Rhonna click on her name above or her art below.

What to do when you have no time to run to the store for a birthday card!

**EDITED** ADDED Spinner Invite and Bottled Water Favor

I love making cards for my family and friends and in the past I always took out cardstock, ink, stamps and glue maybe.  I would work for hours and hours on cards and then gift them.  It was hard sometimes to let go of my creations, knowing that it might end up in the trash in a few days. LOL  Some people aren’t collector of things, so although they may have loved my card it still was going to find it’s way to the trash much sooner than later.  Well, I have found something fabulous that I can make very quickly and although it still hurts to hand it over it was so quick to make that it is a tiny bit easier to gift.

I took this Celebration Birthday set from yes, the House of 3 and printed the card twice so that I could add some dimension to it.  I cut the card out in 1 minute if that and then I cut out a few flags and the Birthday piece from the second printed card to add on top of the first card.  I think it turned out pretty darn cute!  Ohhhhhhhhhh I added crepe paper to it too, and I cut out the blue part of the card that is the backside and used it to put in the inside to sandwich the crepe paper.  I love, love, love it!   There are a couple other designs so go check it out HERE.   *I am not paid to promote their products, I truly love them and just enjoy spreading the word!

Had to add the spinner invite and of course couldn’t resist adding some crepe paper to that too! And how about giving out bottled water as favors? I printed out the Birthday Card and came up with this!  If I had a candy bar I would have also made a candy wrapper! Think I will stop at the store on my way home tomorrow *wink

Valentine Gift Box Finished….

and oh so sweet I must say! I have been having a great time creating with the HO3 Valentine printable pdf’s as you have seen over the last few days! Tonight I put the finishing touches on the gift box and filled it up with candies my darling Valentine loves oh so much! Tonight I decided to add a couple of paper flowers to the box on opposite sides. I saw an awesome tutorial by Rhonna on how to make some gorgeous fabric flowers and took that and applied it to my gift box with crepe paper and some bling. I have to say it turned out so adorable and once my valentine takes a look at it and gives me some props on it I will quickly empty it out into a candy bowl and put the box in my craft studio for safe keeping. LOL

I did take some step by step photos so if you are interested in seeing them let me know and I will post a slide show for you, ran out of time tonight.

Before and After - Gift Box for your Valentine

Here is what I worked on this evening, what do you think about it so far?  I took a Christmas gift box that I got at Pier 1 on clearance for 38cents and with some House of 3 printable decorated it and distressed it.  I am not finished with it but couldn’t wait to share what I have done so far.  This time I decided to take step by step photos and so I will also be adding those to my blog Tuesday night.  Hope you have time to come back this week to check out the tutorial!  If you want some of this fabulous paper then hope on over to House of 3 and you can download it and print it out within 5mins!  As you may have already guessed this sweet little 4.5 x 4.5 box is going to get filled up with some sweets for my darling Valentine!

Spreading a little House of 3 Valentine Love

Just wanted to share with you a little valentine cheer, I shopped the $1 section at Target last week and came across some cute valentine paper.  I cut them down, folded them took my Tim Holtz Tiny attacher (mini stapler) some doilies and of course some House of 3 circles and made paper Lollies.  For the lollipop holder I picked up a pink bucket at Hobby Lobby and stuffed some lollipops and another folded Lollie.  I am sure it would look better with two but at the time I hadn’t figured out what I was going to do with it.  Any who, you can get more inspiration from the House of 3 ladies Rhonna, Janet and Heidi.  And No, I’m not paid to send you their way.  I just know a good thing and these ladies are a good thing!

And here is the front of my mini sweetie album, yes it’s a printable from House of 3!  Super easy and Heidi has awesome instructions on how to put the album together in an accordion album fashion should you so wish to do as she did.

I’m going to get back to playing with all my valentine paper goodies, hope you have a great Sunday afternoon and if you are watching the Super Bowl hope you enjoy it and that your team of choice plays well.

Saturday Fun

Wanted to share with you what I have been up to today while I was doing laundry I might add.  It’s been super gloomy in Houston and today the sun came out! I should have been out there enjoying it but I was so motivated to work on Valentine’s.  So, I’ve been sitting in my craft studio in front of the window enjoying the sun while I played with paper and glue!  Here is what I have so far, still need to pimp up the mini album but I need to head out for my dad’s birthday dinner.  Hope you are having a great day and I will be back to share more later.  And YES, I am leaving my mess! That is the joy of having a craft studio, I can leave it all out so I can pick up where I left off.  Supplies used are from the House of 3, you know you want some so quick click here!  You won’t even have to wait to get them in the mail, as soon as you buy them you get to download the pdf’s and print them out on your printer!
