A day of walking and discovering

We went to Warrenton and Round Top Texas today to go do some junking or antiquing as most like to call it.  There was so much to see and I was ready to buy, buy, buy.  But, as usual I would think it over then decide that I should wait because I might find something better.  I did finally start to do some actual buying as did my hubby.  I kept gravitating to furniture pieces but I knew that we didn’t really need it so I would walk away, take a glance again then keep on walking.  The other things that caught my eye today were glass bottles and mason jars, loved them and took photos of them to share.  I came home with two turquoise mason jars, an old book of music sheets, buttons, some costume jewelry to take apart and recreate something new.  I also came home with a stamp holder, you know the kind that spins around and believe it or not that is it.  My sweet hubby kept asking are you sure there isn’t anything else you want?  How about that big piece of furniture that Linda was selling (Linda is the lady I bought last years furniture piece from that I use in my craft studio).  But, in the end I actually said no, I knew we didn’t have a spot for it and so I was a good girl.  Besides, next weekend we are going to Tyler to visit my in-laws and we won’t be too far from Canton TX and they too have a huge flea market only there is every first weekend of the month.  So, I might just get to go there and then maybe I will find something there that I can’t live without, LOL.

Love this photo and came home with these jars.

Loved these bottles below but left them there for someone else to take home.

Wouldn’t you love to have this piece below, I mean think of the storage! Me too, but no space and refuse to pay what they were asking for it and more importantly I would have to use a ladder to reach more than half of the drawers.  LOL

And here is a photo of my sweetie checking out some manly stuff and being silly for the camera.

A Full Day

Hoping you are having a great weekend so far!  Saturday I met lots of great ladies at my LSS, hopefully I will being seeing many of them again soon in one of my future classes.  The Make and Takes went quick and although I don’t feel that I got to share my true style and love in my make and take I still enjoyed it.  I’m hoping tomorrow is another successful day as my hubby and I are heading to Warrenton TX to do some junking at a really huge flea market that is held twice a year.  I hope to come home with some things for my home and some great things to work into my future classes and my own craft projects.  Don’t have any photos to share with you, the day went by way too quickly and there was no time for picture taking.  Hoping to get some good photos tomorrow while shopping in Warrenton and maybe even get some Bluebonnet pics if we are lucky.  And so that I don’t post without a photo here are some photos from last years trip to Warrenton.  I missed going with my friend Deborah (she let me know she came back today with some great finds)  this year since I had to teach today, hoping the hubby enjoys it as much as I know I will.  Ciao for now friends!  :)

Make and Takes and More

OK.  It is super late, I mean really really late!  But, had to get this posted as I will be super busy the rest of the weekend!  So, Saturday I am doing two 2hr slots at my LSS for the All-Star Roundup.   What?  Well, myself and 4 other teachers will be presenting our own make and takes to 5 tables of 6 for about 20mins per table.  This is my chance to entice the ladies to sign up for my upcoming classes.  I decided to show them how to do the flowers that I we will be doing on our April Layouts.  For the make and take we will make it like a card and so they will be able to use it once they leave the class.  Since we have to fund the make and takes ourselves and only have 20mins to teach them it is meant to be a simple make and take and simple it is!

Here is the make and take along with how I packaged it, please excuse the photos they were all taken in the wee early hours and by early I mean late.

Class is almost in!

Hello Friends! Well my first official make and take is this Saturday at Lonestar Scrapbooking Company at their All Star Roundup!  There will be 5 teachers working the room, hehe.  There will be Five tables of 6 (brave women) set up and each teacher will get 15mins to wow these ladies.  This is our chance to get them interested in our teaching skills so that they will sign up for upcoming classes.  BTW I’ve added a link above to get info on my local classes.

I’m knee deep in kitting and will have photos up on Friday of my make and take and completed photos of the layouts for April’s class.  For now I would like to leave you with a link to an incredibly gifted crafter, LOLLY!  She has been having Wallflower Week and I swear each day it’s been getting better and better.  Please stop on over and visit LOLLY, be sure to scroll over all of this week’s post as they truly are inspiring!  We have flowers in common this week as that is part of my make and take for my class. Mine just isn’t  as awesome as hers since I only get 15mins to teach my teaser project.

Click on this photo to go over and see Lolly and let her know I sent ya :)

Another Dear Lizzy Project

Hi there! Hope you had as good a weekend as I did!  Wanted to share what I created this morning after making breakfast for the hubby and I and watching a hallmark movie.  This is another part of the class I will be teaching at my LSS store in April, it’s not completed yet but wanted to share what I had so far.  I actually went back and added a layer to the flowers after I took the photos.  Was just a little too lazy to get the camera , lol. I will share more of the progress of this page as I get more of it done this week.  I made more flowers with the papers and so this page will go along well with the first page I did, not that they had to but thought it would work well for a class.  Hoping that it will be something folks are interested in doing so that I get folks signed up for my classes, lol.

Blogging brings many friends!

I have to say it again that I am so happy to have joined the blogging world and to have met so many incredibly talented women via their blogs!  I am also excited of all that I am learning from so many of my new friends.  I like that I discover many new sites via my friends sidebar!  Not too long ago I came across Wilna (pronounced Vilna) at My he{ART}.  She is a really talented woman who shares her incredible work with us and also gives us Good News at the end of each of her posts.   She designs for Two Peas in a Bucket, Jenni Bowlin, Little Light Studio, Making Memories and more.

Wilna Wilna Furstenberg is co-founder of Little Light Studio, they offer online classes, printable ebooks, custom blog design, Digital/Printable products, Fonts and more.  I plan on taking their Bling Out Your Blog class.  I really enjoy doing things for myself and so taking this class will give me more tools to use on my blog design.  My new blog look is thanks to Wilna, I won a free Blog Design, isn’t it adorable!  Thanks Wilna!!

You owe it to yourself to go browse her blog and her shop, while visiting her blog take a look at her studio, it is beautiful!  I actually first learned of Wilna via her studio photos on Flickr.  She and I have pink studios and I actually like her shade of pink more than mine.

Hope you take a few minutes to go meet Wilna at her blog, I’ve added links below for you to find her easily! Enjoy the eye candy!!

Is there a right or a wrong way to scrapbook?

Do you scrapbook with pictures in mind or do the pictures come in the end?  I do both but this weekend I started a layout without photos in mind.  I am going to be teaching a layout class at my LSS starting in April.  So, I had to come up with a layout to teach, a make and take and a suggested layout and I did so without a photo in mind.  I picked up some of the Dear Lizzy by American Crafts line that The Lone Star Scrapbooking Co is carrying along with a few elements.  I had no idea what I wanted to do other than something fun, easy and in 3D.  So far this is what I have come up with, now I need to head out and take some photos to use in my Spring Layout.  I haven’t glued down anything so it could very well be changed up once I cut down my photos??  If you are in the Houston area and are interested in learning more about my upcoming class check back later this week for more details.  Hope you have had an awesome weekend!

Digital Brushes ROCK!

Hello friends!  Made a few quick cards using none other than House of 3 digital brushes and printable papers!  It took me just a few minutes to make these, print and cut.  Love how easy it is to make my own cards, and yes I still enjoy stamping when making cards but sometimes this is a bit quicker.  And I always have the option of doing some hybrid cards!  Hybrid cards you ask? Well, I would use some of these digital creations and then add some ink to them and I could add anything else I wished.  If you want to learn more about digital brushes be sure to stop on over at www.Houseof3designdistrict.blogspot.com for the time of tomorrow nights free LIVE show with Rhonna Farrer and Heidi Swapp of House of 3!  Hope to see you there, the word is they are giving away a WACOM tablet! sweet!!!

Inspiration

Comes in all forms, and this past weekend it came from lots of incredible folks cycling the hills of Montgomery County here near Houston Texas! I have been doing Weight Watchers since January and have lost just under 8lbs. I know any loss is a good loss but I had hoped to be losing more quicker, but patience is the key! I volunteered for the Continental Airlines 7th Annual Cycling Classic on Sunday. I was so inspired by these folks riding, there were young folks, middle aged folks and lots of seniors! The race was a 25, 47 or 67 mile ride and let me tell you I was impressed with how many seniors did the 67 mile ride! I saw lots of spandex while I was volunteering, some good and some not so good, LOL. I spoke to some of the riders as they came into our stop #5 and they were full of inspiration. I don’t know how many times I heard someone say YOU CAN DO THIS TOO! Well, not sure that I have it in me to ride along a highway with lots of rude car/truck drivers passing me by but I think it’s time I get on my bike! Spring is coming and so now is the time to get motivated in so many things! Wanted to share some of my favorite photos taken while I cheered on these amazing folks! I went a little crazy taking photos but the beauty of digital photos is that I can simply delete what I don’t need :) Hope you have an amazing week!

Birthday Layout

Well, the party is Saturday and I finished up Kathleen’s birthday gift bag and journal and overall I think it turned out cute!  I used some House of 3 Birthday Lollies to decorate the bag, it gave it that extra punch that it was lacking.  I also created a 12x12 layout again using the House of 3 birthday printable and their mini birthday frames.  For now I simply mocked up the page so I will have to go back in and add real photos into the mini frames after her party.  I really loved how the page turned out and the colors are perfect!  I am going to take some of my creations to my LSS store tomorrow before the party.  They are looking for some new instructors and I would so love to get in their and teach.  I have been doing some small in home classes with a small group of friends.  It has been a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to getting into a LSS.  Wish me luck would ya ;)  Hope you and yours have a great weekend!  Hugs from Texas!

Well, Hello Kitty!

How cute are these bags!  I have a niece who just turned 5 this week and she is having a Hello Kitty party this Saturday!  So, I bought some plain white gift bags and added some crepe paper ruffles.  I then used my Cricut (she was getting jealous of my Silhouette so she was happy to cut for me) to cut out the Hello Kitty and their Monogram, loving it!  I’m still not done with the bags though, they still need a little something!  As for the birthday girl’s bag, well hers has to be extra special so I will share that one with you on Friday!  I’ve also made her a journal to document her party with some fab House of 3 birthday papers so I will also share that with you on Friday.  Hope to see you back then!

Please excuse the lighting in the photos, it’s vewy vewy late ;)
